WHAT IS CROSSFIT?

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that combines functional movements from three core disciplines:

  • weightlifting (barbell lifts like squats, deadlifts, cleans, and snatches),

  • gymnastics (bodyweight movements including pull-ups, handstands, and muscle-ups)

  • metabolic conditioning (rowing, running, and high-intensity cardio).

Founded in 2000 by Coach Greg Glassman, CrossFit focuses on constantly varied, high-intensity workouts designed to improve overall fitness across ten recognized domains: cardiovascular endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. Unlike traditional gym routines that isolate muscle groups, CrossFit trains functional movements that mimic real-life physical demands — movements you use every day, whether lifting groceries, climbing stairs, or playing with your kids. Workouts, known as WODs (Workouts of the Day), change daily to prevent adaptation and keep training engaging. The beauty of CrossFit lies in its scalability: the same workout can be modified for a complete beginner or an elite athlete by adjusting weight, intensity, and complexity, making it accessible to all ages and fitness levels.

  • At Actualize Fitness, CrossFit drop-ins are $38, 10-class passes are $350, and unlimited monthly memberships are $340. We also offer trial classes so you can experience our coaching before committing.
